Do Not Intubate Living Wills, Health Care Proxy and Coronavirus. In the age of Coronavirus and Covid-19, many people are asking if they should get or update their advance care directives. However, many people that have them haven't thought about how they need to change in the present emergency.

Consider this, the standard Living Will and Health Care Proxy usually state, Do not Intubate , meaning that you do not want a breathing tube. This was written at a time when having a breathing tube usually meant that it was an extraordinary measure beyond what an average person wanted in order to stay alive. However, in the age of Coronavirus and Covid-19, most people are reconsidering or actively stating that they want to be intubated or have heroic measures to stay alive. So a directive of Do Not Intubate for Living Wills, in the age of Health Care Proxy and Coronavirus means you need to make a change.

Don't let social distancing stop you. Governor Cuomo has issued an executive order that allows both remote notarization and witnessing. That means that the entire process can be done over a smart phone or webcam. You never have to leave your house. If you need to update your estate plan, your living will, health care proxy or your Last Will and Testament, Contact our office today.
